The Kentucky Society of Professional Investigators, Inc. is a nonprofit organization founded in 2007 to establish standards of excellence and networking opportunities throughout the industry. We also serve as a resource for Private Investigators to obtain continuing education, etc.
Our mission is to provide an established support organization dedicated to the continuing education, training and networking of our members, as well as to create standards of excellence involving the mindful practice of ethics at all stages of an investigation.
With more than 50 years of combined experience, we will help promote efficiency in our members as well as the services they provide. We will foster and develop relationships of helpful interest between members of our profession. KSPI will also provide resources to assist in the daily operations of our members businesses, maintaining licensing, as well as cultivating advanced knowledge in the science and technique of professional investigations.

Director/Owner - Kentucky Special Investigative Unit. Steve started as a Private Investigator in 1991; he now owns the company and runs a team of Private Investigators and Process Servers. Specializes in insurance fraud, criminal defense, infidelity, child custody and witness location. Steve is also the co-founder of the Jefferson County Special Bailiff Association, Inc. and the Kentucky Society of Professional Investigators, Inc.
A native of Louisville Kentucky, Mike Ober, was educated locally before joining the USMC in 1987. Mike served in a Force Recon unit faithfully concentrating training and expertise in reconnaissance, surveillance, in-extremist hostage rescue, and intelligence/counter intelligence operations. Mike is a veteran of the Gulf War (operation: Desert Storm/Desert Shield), conducting live operations on three continents. Upon completing his six years of service, he obtained a position with a local private investigative company; and conducted a 2 year apprenticeship. Mike was appointed by the Governor of Kentucky to serve on the board of licensure for private investigators for a term of two years (2006 to 2008). Mike maintains an investigative practice concentrating in criminal defense and the location and interviewing of witnesses.
